I would like to learn Mandarin for daily conversation. I am of Chinese origin, and grew up speaking Cantonese, although I have very limited reading and writing abilities. I would like a teacher with a flexible schedule and ability to meet in downtown Boston; weekends are best although I travel frequently on weekends. I am writing on behalf of my son who is nearly 15. If he passes his French AP in May he wishes to commence the study of Portuguese. He has studied a certain amount of Spanish in the past, and is very good at languages. He is looking for semi-immersio n for some weeks over the summer, possibly followed by regular lessons during the school year provided we can square that with his school's language department.
