I became interested in Japanese language and culture during my 5 years as a US Navy musician in Yokosuka. After that, I attended Penn State University and graduated with double majors in Advertising and East Asian Studies. At the time of my graduation, I had finished the Genki 2 textbook, but since that time my ability has gotten a little rusty!
I want to develop all areas of my Japanese facility; enough that I can have the fluency to work for a Japanese company. I have a wonderful Japanese girlfriend (Mariko), and hope to live with her in Tokyo someday.
I 'm a serious student and am prepared to devote several hours a day to my studies. Ideally, I'd like to have lessons once a week, maybe every other. As for qualities in a teacher, I'd like one who is tough but fun at the same time.

I am a 15 year old student in 10th grade that has an interest in taking japanese as a language for school credit. The school is an alternative school (the Crefeld School)that is will to accept other languages than the courses offered.
I would anticipate 2 to 3 classes a week a beginner/intr oduction to Japanese student.
I would like a teacher that is patient and willing to work with and avid learner who may need support during the class.

I love languages, especially Japanese and I want to become fluent. I would say I am a beginner with limited knowledge who needs guidance. I would like as much lesson time as possible, I would like to have a teacher who's native language is Japanese.

I took an 8 week night course for ASL 1, so I know the basics. I LOVE learning the language, so I tried to do a credited course at the collegel level (ASL II), but due in part to my fear of formal education classes, I was floundering. I would do better one on one or even a few people in a class. If you are currently working with a few students, and I could join you in that, that would be great. Or if you want to set up private one on one tutoring, let me know. Thanks.
