The short story is I never really had a 'need to' or 'have to' reason for learning Japanese. To be honest, for me its really more along the lines of I just 'want to.' Starting from watching anime as a kid to being able to go on a summer missions trip to Japan and a whole of other things in between and after I guess I thought it was only normal to want to learn the language itself. I can't really say what my proficiency level is because all the learning I've done is through self-study through books, audio lessons, watching anime/drama and such. I did study for about 3-4 years on my own and although it was never planned, I decided to take the JLPT. Call me crazy, I know but taking the N2 off the bat probably was not a good idea, but at that time before there were 5 levels I was led to believe that the gap between the N3 and N2 was quite significant and so it would either be doing something much easier or going with the one with more of a challenge. I went with the harder one. Although I didn't pass, I think I got like a 41%...ouch, at least I kind of knew where I was at. But things really stopped after that and its been like 4 years I think ever since. I'm actually embarrassed to say this so although I could say I have a lot of personal studying hours under my belt I almost have zero when it comes to actual speaking it with somebody else. Probably because of my not so outgoing personality and coupled with the fact that I've never really met a Nihonjin or someone who could really speak Nihongo where I lived/worked. If anything I really just want to build my confidence in speaking, improving my thought flow, thinking like a Japanese, and such and maybe even be able to pass the N2 if all goes well. How much I'll be able to spend time-wise really depends on how well the lessons go or how it progresses. Again I've never had any formal classes/train ing with anyone before so I really don't know what to expect to be honest. But I'll be the first to admit that learning a new language is no walk in the park and it takes time, dedication, practice, and a whole lot of disappointmen ts to be frank. With that said wasting anyone's time including my own is the last thing on my mind but it remains to be seen whether I should go full-throttle or take it at a more steady pace. But as for the teacher, I think as long as he/she can make the lessons interesting to keep me motivated, with a good amount of variety and practicality, and having a good judgment of assessing and nurturing my growth as a student of the language, then that's probably already half the battle right there.

Well i want to learn japanese because its fun. i just love watching anime and i kind of got obessed with the japanese voices, so i decided to leran it myself no matter how hard it can be. :D As you can see , i am a total absolute beginner and i have no idea about what i am getting myself into. Well i am in a medical school you see, so i have not much time for extracurricul ar activities but i guess 1 hour class twice a week will be good for me. I want teachers who really know what they are doing and who care about the stundent's improvement not about the money only.i also prefer teacher who are more likely to be creative in their methods of tutoring and don't use the old traditional ones .

Description |
Hello, my wife and I are living in Japan for the next few years. We both are seeking to be able to understand Japanese language and carry on a functioning conversation. We would prefer private lessons that came to our Camp Lester home at our convenience which would be Saturday morning for approximately an hour. If private lessons are not available we would choose a small class 'academic driven' not socially driven meaning a very large class. We have very specific reasons for wanting to learn the language, primarily work relations in the future. Thank you and please contact me as soon as you are able, we are looking for formal training that we can begin immediately, for an expected one year of continuous education in Japanese language development.

I am interested in learning Japanese language for my own personal activities. I am very interested in the Japanese language, i want to follow an internship program in Japan if its possible, i am at a beginner level, with little knowledge of the language (grammar etc etc). I expose myself to the language daily. I know some of the basics, i can formulate a few sentences, i believe i can learn this language fluently with the right help. My sources of learning Japanese are watching Anime and reading Manga, and listening to Japanese songs. I would like to dedicate 1 or 2 hour daily.
