I am currently working at the International Community School in Decatur, Georgia. We have approximately %50 refugee and immigrant students and roughly %50 locally-born children.
One of our constant struggles is communicating with the families that have arrived in the United States, fleeing from some of the world's most devastating conflicts, whom speak no English. Often times the hasten and excel in learning English leaving communication between child and parent increasingly difficult.
At the moment, we are looking for translators who would offer an occasional, free written translation of some of the documents we send home to these families specifically. Around %50 of those at our school who are learning English, their first language is Kurdish, Somali, and Burmese.
