Though, I have been learning Bengali online for the past two years, I still feel that I am a beginner in learning the language and I would like to learn to speak it fluently. I am hoping to learn Bengali. I am a complete beginner. I have tried o self teach with a book but found the organization of the book to be a problem. I would like to learn for fun and interest. I would like to be able to speak at a conversationa l level and read literature if possible. I read some bengali in translation and I would like to eventually be able to read the original. I am more interested in feeling a grasp of the language as opposed to learning speedily. Understanding grammar is often more important to me than simple memorization of phrases. I can only dedicate one or two nights a week to formal lessons. I am looking for a teacher with patience and a little flexability as I am a working geologist and travel for work from time to time. I would need to be able to reshedule or cancel lessons a week in advance due to travel. I don't mind online lessons, but I would prefer a teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area so that I would be able to do live lessons from time to time.

I am a beginner in the Bengali language. I have learned 2 times previously in Calcutta, India but am interested in becoming more fluent. I enjoy traveling in and out of India and desire to become a better speaker in Bengali. I am willing to dedicate 2 times a week or say 4 hours a week with the tutor learning the language..whi ch doesn't include my study of Bengali at home. The qualities I am looking for in my Bengali tutor is that they would be patient with me because I really have a passion to learn...somet imes it will just take me time!

Hello:
I am preparing to work in Dhaka, Bangladesh for two years with VSO, a volunteer organization similar to Peace Corps. I do not have much time to begin studies before I leave (I will receive training in country) but would like to start with a crash course in the basics before I go.
I am a complete beginner to this language and would be glad to master some basic greetings and questions. I would prefer in person lessons if possible, but will consider phone/email as well. I would like to meet with a teacher 1-2 times per week. Someone with much patience and able to tell me about the culture too would be great!
