I am an avid traveler and I like to learn the basics of the native language in the countries that I visit. I am also interested in language in general, so I want to take my learning beyond the phrasebook level. I am always interested in reading and writing, as well as speaking.
My proficiencies are as follows:
A rabic - no experience
Manadarin - recognize some kanji, but don't know Chinese readings
J apanese - can read and write just a little, speaking is intermediate and listening is a little better than that; I would really like to improve reading and grammar
Fr ench - listening or reading, I can understand most things; my speaking is not as sharp, so I'd like to improve that and vocabulary

I am half Puerto Rican and have lost my spanish speaking skills and would like to regain them. I would consider myself intermediate and need improvement in conversation and vocabulary. I would like private lessons twice a week. I am looking for a teacher who I will feel comfortable conversing with and not embarrassed to make mistakes with. Our family may be moving to Tanzania for the 2010-2011 academic year. We are interested in getting a head start in the language. We are all beginners. The four of us would enjoy tutoring, 8 yr old, 5 year old and two adults.
