My name is Alexandra. Next year I will be in year 7 and I am enrolled in a French immersion program at my school. I have never studied french before (only italian and more recently german but german is being discontinued as a language at my school which is why I am changing to french). I would like a french tutor for this term and maybe ongoing so I can get some familiarity with the language before I start the immersion program next year. My wife and I need to learn French.
Yo ur proficiency level (e.g., beginner, etc.): We are at beginner level
Why you are learning your foreign language (e.g., career advancement, etc.):We need to learn French as my wife now works for a French Company and all her colleagues are French. Not fair on them to always have to speak English. We want to do this so we are also able to communicate and participate at afterwork functions.
The areas in which you feel you need particular improvement (e.g., grammar, conversation, etc.): Need help with everything.
How much time you want to dedicate to your language lessons: Willing to dedicate as much time as possible (around work commitments) to learn the language as quickly as possible.
What qualities you are looking for in your lessons or in your teacher: Patience! Coming from Australia, learning a foreign language was not a priority when we went to school.

I am in Canada for an International Youth Exchange Program and one of my goals before coming here was to learn French, simply because it's the second official language here. I would like to learn a new language. English is my second language and I also learned Korean last year, just for fun.
I was in Montreal when I first arrived and I thought it was really nice to hear people speaking French (Quebec-style ) and seeing most of the signs written in that language. I would like to learn either or both beginner Quebec French or France French.
I can devote time for learning on weekdays from 6pm-8pm or any time on weekends.
I would appreciate a teacher who is fluent with the language and who is determined to help the student learn a lot in a short period of time.
