I have basic mandarin conversationa l skills. Ive taken 1 year of Chinese classes. I took 6 months at my university in the U.S. and 6 months at Nankai University in Tianjin, China. I also spent another 3 months working in Beijing. This was for a Chinese company but the primary language I spoke while working was english, so I learned little to no Chinese at the time. I plan on doing business in China in the future and want to improve my Chinese conversation skills, specifically business Chinese language. I would like to have one on one classes about 2-3 times a week for 2-3 hours, but I am really flexible with this.

My son is 15 years old and had already taken Spanish in school. He is not interested in Spanish. We are of German decent and he did show an interest for German. We sat down and discussed his future and he has chosen Chinese as his second language. Chinese is not offered in the public school system therefore we must look elsewhere for this subject.
M y son has a lot of interest in Asia. He has been taking Martial Arts for 10 years and currently has many friends, teachers and mentors that are Asian.
He would like to utilize the Chinese Language in his future business dealings. He is currently in the 9th grade and will have 5 years to become fluent. He would probably be good with once a week to begin and to be evaluated as to his needs to continue and pursue it.

I want my 6 year old daughter to learn Mandarain - we travel to China once in awhiel and also feel it's a strong language to learn. She is beginner. Conversation initially is most important. Would like 30-45 mintues a week - and kept fun.

I have given my self many good career oriented reasons why I want to learn Mandarin--but I am not sure they are really why. I just want to know it--and have for many years. Writing and reading are also high priorities for me. I am an artist and writing is part of my motivation.
I am a beginner who is working with Rosetta Stone software, books and Internet sites. So far I 'think' I'm doing well--but who knows? I particularly need to understand grammer as Rosetta Stone software is quite good at showing various forms of speaking--but not strong in helping you know which form to use when creating a new sentence.
Currently, I spend around 5 or 6 hours per week in practice. Sometimes much more--sometim es less.
I am looking for a class and teacher to allow me opportunity to ask questions as they arise in my learning that require a native speaker. My goal is to be as close to accent free as possible and to speak in an educated manner. Additionally, I hope to be able to grow with this teacher.
C ost is a concern as is time. I am married with an 8 year old son and have many draws on my time. Still--I am doing this as best as I can.

Vo cabulary building (much of it is reminders for vocab I have forgotten)
