I am interested in increasing my proficiency with French because I am Canadian and I think Canadians should be able to speak in both official languages. It is also a dream of mine- to speak French well.
I completed Alliance Francaise Level 2.3 in the spring, and have recently returned from Montreal where I was studying 4 hours a day for the month of October and ended half way through Lingua Level 3 – essentially I am probably a low level intermediate.
I would like to dedicate two times a week to French study: Evenings, weekends, or a combination of each.
I would like a teacher who speaks well, can explain difficult grammatical concepts easily, and makes learning fun.

I'm looking for a private tutor to learn French because I've moved to Brussels to live and I also need it for career advancement . I tried few schools there but I was not satisfied with the teaching methods and with sizes of the groups.
I'm a beginner and I don't know yet the basic grammar rules, so I need improvement in grammar as well as in vocabulary, conversations and writing. I would like to meet with a teacher once or twice a week to have 2-4 hours of lessons per week. I'm looking for a native French speaker who can speak fluent English as well to explain me some materials, grammar rules and etc. which I will not be able to understand in French. I prefer to have more academic based lessons, than lessons based on games.

My proficiency level is barely beyond that of a beginner.
I need to be able to communicate with doctors, dentists, barbers, neighbors, friends, etc. and I suppose that means I need near-grammati cally-correct conversation skills.
Initially I would like 1-2 weeks of 'intensive' lessons in a small group of 2-3 persons and then follow that with periodic lessons when I feel my communication skills need to be honed.
I have had lessons 1-on-1 and in a group with 6-7 persons. They were not successful venues for me. I have found the Michel Thomas method with little emphasis on grammar and gradual introduction of words into sentences with ample repetition to be more helpful.
