Description |
I am a beginner in both Kurdish and Turkish. I am actively studying Kurdish on my own but have a false start in Turkish.
I have chosen to learn Kurmanji because it is the language of my boyfriend and his family. I have strong beliefs about the link between language and culture, and I prefer to communicate with them in their mother tongue. As I hope to become a part of their family, it will be my language, too, and I would like it to be the language spoken in our home with the new family we start. My children will be Kurdish, and I want to be able to teach them and speak it with them. My ultimate goal will be to speak fluently at an upper advanced level. In the short term, I really need to work on basic conversation skills, especially regarding family and culture. I will also need some help with writing. I want to put a lot of time into my language lessons, possibly 4-10 hours a week (perhaps on rotation) for at least the next couple of months (come September I'll be working on my practicum for teaching English) before lessening the length of lessons. What I'm looking for in my lessons is a communicative approach that focusses on meaning and developing fluency. I have a tendency to be the sort of learner who's bent on accuracy at the cost of communication .
I have already found a Turkish teacher through the site. Thank you.

My friend and I would like to learn turkish - we currently do not speak the language at all but have turkish friends and would like to be able to speak to them in their language. We would like to have lessons for 2-3 hours a week and are mostly interested in conversationa l understanding in the first instance. We understand that turkish is quite a difficult language to learn so we would like a teacher who is patient and has a sense of hunour.

I am a scientist from an American university currently in Ankara for a few days and I am actually looking for someone to serve as a translator for me. I need to contact several local organizations who do not have staff fluent in English and I was hoping to pay someone to serve as a translator for me. Thank you.

Description |
I am a student who is interested in advancing my study of Turkish. I know many Turkish words, and I have a basic understanding of the grammar (sentence structure, etc). I spent some time in Istanbul this summer, which gave me further knowledge of the Turkish language, but only on a very informal basis. I am currently taking a Turkish language class on Sundays, but I feel I could use more instruction. I am not yet able to hold a fast, casual conversation. When conversing in Turkish, it has to be slow in order for me to understand. I want to improve my conversationa l skills so that I can speak and comprehend Turkish much more quickly. I want to learn Turkish for both personal and professional reasons. Personal in that I would like to communicate with my Turkish friends in their native language and professional in that I am a student of international studies and I look forward to having a career in diplomatic relations one day. I have limited time during the week, but my weekends are very much free. If needed, I will certainly work out a schedule for the weekdays as well.
Than k you for your time and consideration . I look forward to hearing from you.
