I've always been interested in learning languages but find that I can never find instructions in the ones that interest me most. I am an absolute beginner and know a few words and phrases in tagalog and felt now is the time to stop dabbling and make an all out effort to learn another language.
Ar ea of improvement? All of it... I want to know the grammar, I want to be able not only to speak it but hear it spoken in its native tongue and understand it.
I'm willing to devote a considerable amount of time to learning.
Fr om my instructor, I desire someone who wants to have fun with it and not spend a great amount of time teaching me phrases that will never come up in daily usage. For example, 'Where is the pencil'. I would rather concentrate on how to string words together myself and have them grammatically correct. How to conjugate verbs and when to apply different tenses.

Salam! My name is Annika Natus (24), I'm living in Germany and studying arabic since one year at Frankfurt University and would like to improve arabic speach, grammar and conversation, because we only translate and not talk in our lessons... The initial cause, why me and my husband, Shamir Ali (26) want to learn arabic, is to read and understand the Qur'an best as possible. We are searching for a patient teacher (whose lessons are not to expensive) - we would prefere in Damascus - because we don't want to book an expensive school-packag e, but organise the journey ourselves.

I am a beginner in arabic, but I have already started to learn some basics. In a german school I was tought to read and write. I want to learn arabic, because of a great personal interest in foreign languages and because I will spend 6 months in Dubai and learning this language is a good possibility to profit from this stay. I don't know my exact time schedule yet, but I am ready to invest a lot of time in studying arabic and I would like to take lessons at least once or twice a week.
