I want to learn Chinese as a career advancement. I already speak cantonese semi-fluently but know mandarin vaguely. I want to enhance my career by cultivating the languages I already have embedded in me. I want to be able to converse with my family in Belgrade. I am a beginner having used ' Teach Yourself Serbian ' to gain some knowledge of the language. I have no concrete concept of grammar, verb conjugation or tense. Similarly this type of book doesn't lend itself to being able to converse with a native speaker. I am retired and can spend considerable time learning the language.The qualities of a good teacher is someone who has a passion for the language and wants others who are interested to learn it. Takes pride in their work and wants the student to succeed.
