I would say that my level of chinese manderin is between beginner and intermediate. i spent 1 year and six months in china.Thats where i got my interest in the chinese language and culture.Havin g learned a little chinese it would be a lost if i don't continue my studies in order to learn more.I would be able to spend 3 to 6 hours weekly for my studies.

I want to learn Chinese because i would like to do the TESL certificate and go to China. I decided that it would be better if I knew some chinese before going. I have no knowledge of chinese at all but i like learning and i'm a quick learner. I want to dedicate a lot of time i probably won't be going to school in January so I will have a lot of time.

I am a complete beginner. I know nothing about the language! Though my mother speaks Mandarin, I was raised speaking only English (and later in life learned French).
I 'd like to learn Mandarin because I would like to be able to travel to China. A friend and I have made tentative plans to go there to work, and learning Mandarin is a great first step.
I'd be prepared to meet a couple of times a week (nights only!) to learn.
I consider myself a fast learner, and I'm willing to put in a lot of effort to learn. So I would prefer a teacher who places more emphasis on this learning aspect, rather than an easy, relaxed, social aspect. Not that I'd want my teacher to be a slavedriver or anything...bu t I think it's important to note that I wouldn't be doing this as a social activity. I'd be here to learn.
