Hi! I have dual citizenship american and iranian. I have not been to Iran for 10 years and have not spoken since. My speaking is next to nothing and my comprehension is slightly above that. I taught myself reading/writi ng but am only around a second grade level due to my limited vocabulary. This september may be one of the last opportunities I have to see my family because my father is sick. I would like to go and be able to communicate. I would enroll in beginning classes since that is my current level, but I will obviously progress faster than many beginners and do not have the time to move slowly. I was recently laid off for visiting my father so have time but limited finances (I am working on improving the finances). I don't mind group classes, I just want to make good use of all time. If there is a topic I am comfortable with, I would like to always be studying something new while other students are working on my known topic. Thank you very much!

Why? Educational.. .I am going to get my M.A. in Middle Easter History.
A reas for Improvement: Conversationa l...I really want to improve speaking casually with someone and getting comfortable with the language.
I want to dedicate at least 5 hours per week with a tutor.
Qua lities I am looking for: Someone with Egyptian Arabic or Lebanese Arabic would be great. Their English skills should be at least good enough to explain the intracacies of the Arabic language.

I am a beginner Japanese student, having only taught myself so far. I have a basic understand of hiragana and katakana, and I also know a very limited amount of spoken Japanese. I have travelled to Japan twice now and will travel there again within the next few months.
I want to improve my Japanese all around- i.e. conversationa l, grammatical, written.
I would love to have lessens at least once every other week for up to two hours, but I would prefer every week if schedule allows.
As for what I am looking for in a teacher... patience :)
