Why you are learning your foreign language?: When I was at a very young age(8 years old), I was introduced to the Japanese culture, and was enthralled to learn everything about Japan, even if it was just basic knowledge. From that time to present, I've self taught myself the sheer basics to get the vocabulary well-known, in addition to getting traditionally trained at a community college for a year. My purpose for this training is to solidify everything that I've gained so far, but I want to start from the beginning just to be on the safe side. Also I want to put my skills to the test by applying to JLPT to get an official certification in Japanese language(Read ing and Writing, etc). All of this is for my burning desire to tour Japan and be one with its entire culture.
Y our proficiency level (e.g., beginner, etc.)? Truthfully since I've been self teaching myself for the past 20 years, I really don't have a gauge as to where my placement is. I've translated a couple of things to see if I was able to do it, and I did an acceptable job to the limited knowledge I have, but its within my own self merits. So that's the reason why I want to start from stage 1.
The areas in which you feel you need particular improvement (e.g., grammar, conversation, etc)? Definitely in Grammar and Conversation, because I usually get shy, mess up the sayings, and make out an entirely different saying from the original conversation. Writing as well, because I know if you form two different words together, it'll mean a completely different saying, or have no meaning at all.
How much time you want to dedicate to your language lessons? As much time as needed until I can read, write, and speak thoroughly. I want to be engulfed into the entire process.
W hat qualities you are looking for in your lessons or in your teacher? I want my teacher to know that I have a passion for this, and I'll take the lessons very seriously. I want them to be honest with me, give me all the knowledge that they have, from Proper Japanese, to Slang Japanese. Also to give me challenges that are attainable, and I will follow them to the letter.

I'm learning Japanese for a number of reasons. It started with plain-old interest then advanced to ministry in Japanese as well. But I've always loved the sound of the language and that was my first reason for learning.
I've studied before, and at my peek I would have considered myself advanced but not fluent. I've recently started looking over my old lessons to regain all the knowledge I've lost over the past couple of years.
I feel I need to improve in all areas but I'm still fairly proficient at sentence structure and some grammar. That being said, I can still improve in those areas, but where I TRULY need help is in [1]building useful vocabulary and [2]conversati on. When listening I can recognize a good portion of words, even if I've forgotten them over time. But spoken, I feel like it takes me too long to respond. Partly due to lack of practice and lack of vocabulary. I remember being decent at verb conjugations and I could pick it up again quickly.
I will spend all the time I need to learn this language. My goal is one lesson a week.

Description |
I am preparing for my JLPT N2 exam in December. I am weak in listening, speaking and constructing sentences. I would like to revise the various grammar forms, practise conversation and run through incorrect answers. I don't mind going to a central location for lesson or the teacher can come over to my house.
