I am a fourth year doctoral student at Stanford university, and am working on a dissertation about Ethiopian art. I would like to improve my abilities in Amharic, particularly developing my reading skills. I have taken elementary Amharic and can read the fidel, and know basic grammar structures. I am not very confident about speaking the language, but would like to improve this too!
I am looking to find a tutor willing to meet in person in the Bay Area, once or twice a week ideally up until Christmas (approx 10 weeks).
I' m looking for a teacher who will push me to improve and help me to build confidence in learning this language.

My name is Raatib Anderson and I hope to find someone willing to teach me Amharic ( Harari would be nice as well). I am doing this because I intend on traveling to Ethiopia for the summer in order to teach English---vol unteering of course. My proficiency in the Amharic language is virtually absent thus I hope to have at least 6 hours a week of teaching. The only qualities I look for in a professional is patience.

I am thinking of moving to Ethiopia for work and want to learn Amharic. I am a very new beginner. I need help mostly with grammar, but conversation as well for now. Will not tackle reading or writing yet. I want to dedicate 3-10 hours a week of face to face tutoring with adfditional homework between sessions. This also depends on price. I am looking for an instructor who understands English grammar very well so they can relate to how I think about grammar in regards to tense, verb conjugation etc...I also speak Spanish and a little Portuguese so my sense of grammar is very embedded in Romantic languages.
