We have a 23 Year old Daughter who is deaf and we know some sign language but her boyfriend is also deaf and he signs different then we do and they have a 8 day old baby (Hannah) that was just diagnosed as deaf.So we need to learn more to be able to communicate with our Granddaughter and her two little cousins Seth 6 and Ethan 5 want to learn sign language also.

I wish to learn Russian because I make at least two trips to Ukraine every year. Poissibly will be making more frequent trips or living there for several months at a time. I am a beginner in the language. I wish to have some conversationa l ability (correct grammer!)and be able to read simple documents.
O ne problem: I have a hearing impairment that makes it difficult to hear certain words. I realize it will be a struggle to learn Russian due to this problem, but I am willing to try. With proper feedback on my pronunciation , I think that I can do reasonably well.

I am writing on behalf of my son who is nearly 15. If he passes his French AP in May he wishes to commence the study of Portuguese. He has studied a certain amount of Spanish in the past, and is very good at languages. He is looking for semi-immersio n for some weeks over the summer, possibly followed by regular lessons during the school year provided we can square that with his school's language department.
