I am a beginner in learning Chinese and Korean, although I'm a little more intermediate when it comes to Japanese. I'm learning these languages just because I enjoy it and I think they will help me out in my career path eventually. Mostly in all of them I need to improve on my conversation skills, I dislike working on it but I know I have to. I pick up writing and grammar, etc very quickly so it's not as much of a problem.
I'm looking mainly for Korean or Chinese help right now. I plan to go to China soon and I'd like to practice more and get used to the language again before I go. I would just like to have a patient teacher who will focus more on the positive than what I'm doing wrong.

Beginner in Mandarin. Am conversationa lly fluent in Cantonese as a foreign born HK Chinese which may help slightly.
Wish to learn Mandarin mainly for career development and because I am Chinese!
I wish to immerse myself into language lessons, but need to check with my company as to how much they are willing to sponsor me for.
I want a teacher who is friendly and approachable, yet will push me to learn at a fast rate. I do not want to follow a strictly regimented approach to learning Mandarin, as I have found from previous experience that this can hinder the rate of improvement when learning other languages (e.g. getting bogged down with the basics).

In the quest of mastering spoken Chinese, both due to my personal interest and for my professional reasons, I wish to learn Chinese. I am a novice in this and wish to learn it within 7 or 8 months, starting mid-August 2006. As i am working in a software firm, i can spare only my weekends, that is saturday and sunday for learning (no.of hours no constraint in these 2 days). Conversing with no grammatical mistakes is my ultimate goal. No big expectations from the teacher, other than being qualified enough to teach me and making me speak Chinese fluently within a year.
