My wife and I would like to learn Mandarin jointly. I am developing healthcare management-re lated business opportunities in Shanghai and Beijing. I have visited China twice in the past 18 months. The last visit was last week to Shanghai. We intend to make several more trips over the next year. Our level of proficiency is beginner. We are willing to dedicate 8-10 hrs per week to lessons and practice.
We would like a tutor who is personable, respectful but disciplined and is versed in adult learning styles. The tutor should also be willing to teach using movies, newspapers, books, poems and other cultural approaches in addition to textbooks.

Im interested in learning the thai language. I visited Thailand in May of 2005, and was instantly captivated by the people and the wonderful culture. I loved the laid back attitude of 'sanuk' or fun outlook on life, I've been thinking of somewhere to retire abroad when im ready and from the short time that I stayed in Thailand, I can think of nowhere else I would rather spend my time. Im a bilingual speaker my native toungue is english, but I was raised to speak spanish as a child, since my parents are from the carribean. My proficiency level is definitly beginner, but Im a quick learner, and a hard worker. being a spanish speaker im aware that the vowels in asain languages are the same so sounding them out is not a problem, my problem lies in the tones that are used. I am willing to allot as much time as I can 1-2 lessons a week Im available monday to saturday anytime from 6pm on. sundays Im off and available anytime of the day. Im seeking a hands on teacher, Im a person who learns by seeing and doing, not just reading and writing an assignment.
