I would say I am an 'advanced beginner'. I have some familiarity with Cantonese Chinese from (a) self-study and (b) having married into a family speaking Cantonese.
My interest in learning Cantonese is both a general interest in languages and a home, family and friends interest.
I need actual conversation practice, a resource for phrases, vocabulary and pronunciation work. On one hand, I need a conversation partner, and on the other, I need a language resource. I'm not a star language student; my language abilities are mediocre, so I especially need work in the comprehension area.
I would hope to be able to meet twice a week for an hour or half-hour session. Study time outside of this will vary - depending on work, family, etc.
Since I am not in a class, I need someone who is a bit flexible - so that we can, if needed, shift from conversation work to my questions to the tutor about phrases or language items that I am trying to understand. In effect, I would paying for someone to talk to me in the language, and also to answer my questions about the language.

Hello,
I am currently enrolled in a Mandarin Chinese class which is beginner level. The class meets once a week. 'New Chinese 300.'
I am learning this language because I have always been interested in it but did not have the time nor schedule to pursue this desire. I believe I need improvement in conversation as that is the level I am currently at. I dedicate at least 30 minutes per day except the class day which is much longer. If I am lucky I try for an hour it just depends on how my schedule is going. It is very tight.
The qualities I am looking for in the tutor/teacher is expertise, fluency in the language and the ability to help me succeed.
