My name is Thomas Sybilrud,
I am currently a citizen of the US, but am thinking of moving back to Iasi. I lived there for 10 months last year (2007) with my girlfriend. She grew up in Iasi and then came to the US for high school as an exchange student and continued to go to University here in the states, where we met.
Upon living in Iasi, I did not take formal courses for the language, thus not learning as much as I could have. I figure I could understand about 40 - 50% when I was living there, yet I can probably only speack 10 - 20%. I have a decent vocabulary (which makes it easier for me to understand than speak) but I have trouble putting the words together. We left Romania at the end of November 2007.
My girlfriend and I have been renovating an apartment building in the Gara district of Iasi and will be continuing our real estate development. I am trying to decide if it is a good idea for me to go back to Iasi. I am very serious about learning the language.
Currently I would like to be able to speak and understand the language (I understand people in Bucharest a lot better than the people of the Moldovian region) I have been told it is a hard dialect to learn.
Reading and writting is not a huge issue right now, but eventually it would be nice to learn. But for now I would just like to learn how to speak and understand.
I have taken some classes for Spanish (about 10 years ago) so I get a little bit of how the grammer should be since they are similar languages. But I still have trouble.
I f I am going to come back to Romania it will be around mid-July 2008.

I am high beginning or low intermediate. I had been living and working in Saudi Arabia for four years when I decided to take Arabic classes in Egypt for 7 months. I am an ESL teacher so I have an interest in other cultures and languages. I would like to improve all language skills and am afraid of losing the little bit of fluency I have already developed. I would like to meet with someone maybe for 3 to 4 hours a week. I would prefer to be in a class with other students.

To Whom It May Concern,
I am interested in acquiring fluency in Arabic. I currently have no back ground in Arabic, but it would be my third language after English and Japanese. I would like to learn both reading, writing and speaking. I would prefer an intensive level of language study, perhaps about 5 hours of instruction and 15 hours of personal study a week. I am planning on attending Law School this fall and want to have a having a basic foundation in Arabic by the time I begin. I would prefer private tutoring that included a text book or some kind of outside of class work. Otherwise a classroom setting would be fine as well.
