I am a beginner. I have studied French when I was at the U of MN, but speaking it I am quite shy and uncomfortable .
We had a Portuguese foreign exchange student in 2001-2002 and we have traveled to Portugal several times and plan to continue going there. It is important to our relationship with Maria and her family to at least try to speak their language.
I would like to learn conversationa l Portuguese and be able to read it somewhat.
I would like to meet once a week or perhaps every other week. My husband would like to learn too, but he travels and his schedule is unpredictable .
I would like an instructor that is patient and willing to start slow until my confidence builds with the language

My proficiency level of Spanish is intermediate. I studied it in the university during 3 years, but after that I didn't use it for about 2 years. I lived in Italy for a summer back in 2003 and I studied Italian some. I am still very much a beginner, but I do know a few basic phrases for communication . I am looking to become proficient in Italian because I love the culture of Italy and wish to go back there when I have fully learned the language.
While I am most interested in conversationa l Italian, I would also like to learn to read and write Italian. Grammar will likely be the hardest part for me.
I would like to take lessons once or twice a week. Again, I ultimately wish to become fluent in conversationa l Italian.
I am a well educated individual, and I usually pick up on concepts very quickly.

i would love to learn scottish gaelic, though my background is in french and spanish. i studied for a while on my own from a workbook and on bbc alba but would still consider myself a beginner. i would be willing to dedicate a few hours each week, apart from study time on lessons. i'm looking for someone who can teach me to read, write, and converse proficiently and would prefer someone with knowledge of the language's context in scottish culture, both historical and contemporary.
