I am a beginner--hav ing been learning from books and CD's for about 4 months. I wish and need to develop conversationa l abilities.
Mostly my efforts are for personal interest. In business one of my main clients is from mainland China--but works and lives in Calgary and is fluent in English. The family involved in the company however lives in China and is not Eng;ish speaking. I hope to be able to travel to China in the fall of 2006 to both meet and communicate with some of these people as well as to visit the country generally.
I hope to meet with a tutor who can teach and help me engage in conversationa l Chinese on a broad range of everyday matters, including news and current affairs. I am willing to dedicate 2-4 hours per week to this end, possibly more.+

My son has completed 8 years of learning Chinese as a second language. I would like him to take the provincial examination so that his proficiency in the Chinese language can be officially recognised. Also I would like him to continue learning the language to a high proficiency level in which he would be able to use it in business when he graduate.
