I would like to learn Hungarian. My parents immigrated to Philadelphia from Hungary. When I was a child, I knew Hungarian, but as I began school and especially after my parents' divorce, they ceased to speak Hungarian to us. They wanted us to do well in school and my father had an American girlfriend, who he didn't want to offend by speaking a foreign language in front of her. Since then, I have not spoken Hungarian. I know how to count to 39 (only because I don't know how to say 40, 50, etc.)and I know how to say 'yes' - igen and 'no' - nem. That is it.
Last year my father passed away. Although my sister and I tried to convince him to find his family in Hungary, he had no desire. So, this past weekend, my sister called me and told me that my father's nephew (our cousin) contacted her on facebook. I didn't have a facebook account, but I created one right away and he contacted me as well. He doesn't speak English, so he must use a translation software to translate what we write to him and to translate what he writes to us previous to sending it.
After opening the facebook account, I have also been contacted by my mother's Hungarian friends. She is currently in Hungary. My point is that now I have so many reasons to learn Hungarian. I'd like to visit my father's family someday and be able to communicate with them.
My only setback is that I need to be able to learn in the evenings or weekends, since I work during the week. Please contact me, I'm really excited to learn Hungarian.

Hi, I am interested in learning Bengali at the conversationa l level. I am at the beginner level, but am semi-fluent in Urdu and can read/write both Urdu and Hindi. I am looking for a teacher that can help me learn Bengali's writing system, grammar, and general day-to-day conversation phrases. I've always been interested to learn another language proficiently, and after spending 3 years in Australia (where many of the expats I dealt with all spoke at least 2 languages), I decided now was the time. My family is from Italy and I plan to visit there (potentially work there for a few years as well) and want to be somewhat proficient in the language.
I am non-proficien t in italian, but did take spanish for a couple years, and I've come to believe that the roots for some words are similar.
I will dedicate whatever time I have. I work out of town M-Th, but would be available for 1-2 lessons per week in person, with additional study time done by myself on the road (if given a curriculum).
I'm looking for a teacher who will be tough on me, maybe check periodically to make sure i'm doing my assignments, but will also understand how I learn best and tailor the lesson to that. For example, I think I learn best visually/audi bly, rather than through reading...but that is just a guess.
Ple ase note that I'm also interested in GERMAN, for the exact same reasons I listed above for Italian.
