The trued is I just graduated from high school and I want to go to china to learn mandarin. I have no knowledge at all of this language, but I would like to have some before I go there. I think that learning this language is highly important for the future regarding business. The only thing I look for on a teacher is that he or she has to be extremely patient.

I am interested in learning Mandarin for the reason of living abroad next year in Taiwan. I believe that this is the goal my life is taking, to teach English abroad. I am hoping it will ease the culture shock if I am able to communicate a bit when I am there. I presently have no experience with Mandarin, and the friends I have that are chinese only know a small bit of cantonese.
I am not sure how this works and how much time people usually devote to lessons. I am more then willing to discuss this. I think I would prefer one on one lessons but am open to other options to learn.
I need someone who is patient and would know where to begin in teaching me the language and how to progress since I have no experience to begin with.

I am travelling to southwest China in late September for a few weeks, and would like to learn a few phrases of Mandarin prior to my departure.
