Looking to learn Chinese. I'd prefer to learn Mandarin as its more widely spoken, however I'm not too sure of how different it is from Cantonese.
Looking to learn primarily for career advancement.
Ideally I could commit two nights a week, or one full day on the weekend.
I would be starting from square one and understand it is a very difficult language to learn.
Qualities in a teacher would be patience. I do not have a car, so ideally I need something downtown Toronto.

My Mandarin is at a beginner to intermediate level. I recently spent two months in Beijing and I also grew up speaking Cantonese with my parents. However, my reading and writing is very poor. My motivation for learning Mandarin is career advancement and gaining a better appreciation for my heritage.
What I am looking for is a patient, friendly tutor who can also speak English. And I'd like to meet up with my tutor once a week for about 2 hours to work on my conversationa l Mandarin. I work full-time so the tutor must be available for the evenings on weekdays or anytime on the weekends.

Hi,
I would like to learn Chinese for personal reason but mostly to understand more the culture and be able to fluantly communicate with any person that only speek this language.
I tried to learn Chinese in the past and know only a few words. I would like to concentrate my effort to conversation and grammar. I would like to be able to read and write this language. Numerous trip to China are planed for the future.
15 to 30 hrs should be dedicate to learning Chinese and the same time for practicing.
The quality I would like to see in my teacher is professionali sm, patience, calm, friendly.
