I have recently taken time off from my work and would like to take that time to learn Mandarin Chinese. I am interested in learning both for social and business reasons. I am a beginner and have had no formal lessons yet. I have plenty of time to dedicate to the lessons and intensive lessons would also be ok.
I would prefer a teacher that is a native Mandarin speaker.

I used to consider my self 'proficient' in Mandarin, but many years away from China and learning other languages has dropped that level a fair bit. I wouldnt consider myself a beginner, though I cannot say for sure how advanced my comprehension /speaking level is for sure. As is with languages, a bit of practice brings it rushing back so that is what I am looking for.

The position is for a full time Japanese Language teacher for Secondary students. The students have had 1 year of basic Japanese and the school would like to continue to offer this language option to its students. A monthly salary and accommodation , insurance, and legal documentation ,(visa, work permit), are provided. The teacher should be a native speaker of Japanese, hold a university degree, certificates of language teaching, be patient, familiar with working with teenagers, have an elementary ability in English or Thai, be able to commit to a 1 year renewable contract starting on May 14th 2004.

I am a beginner in Russian - I have been teaching msyelf cyrillic and basic vocab but would like to start from scratch with a teacher.
I have wanted to learn for a long time - I studied Russian history, love the literature and hope to get the chance to live there one day. It would also help me in my career, particulalrly if I apply for jobs in Russia.
I would like to spend 2 hours a week or so in classes - mostly evenings. Unfortunately my job is very unpredictable so a teacher would have to be flexible, as I may have to change times at short notice. I would like to mix group and one-on-one classes if possible, to get practice speaking the language.
I would hope to have a teacher who will be rigorous with me, and creative in lesson planning. I want to work on reading and writing as well as conversationa l Russian and getting a good grasp of the grammar will be vital. I don't just want to learn phrasebook Russian.
