Hello,
I just returned from Taiwan where I lived with my husband for a year and a half. We lived in Chiayi County, in Puhzih City. Very few people in Puzih speak English so I was very motivated to learn Chinese. I taught conversationa l English at a H.S. there and loved it. The students and other teachers all wanted to teach me Chinese as well. I studied Mandarin Chinese for a year utilizing the bo po mo fo system with a private tutor for about 1.5 hours per week provided by my husband's company- GE. I was able to understand basic conversation and ask and answer simple questions before we moved back to the states. I would very much like to continue studying Chinese. I need improvement in all alspects including conversation and sentence structure. I have the second half of the book she used and am continueing studying on my own, but I miss conversing in Chinese.

I would like to take courses either in the evenings or perhaps the weekend. Affordability is a big factor, therefore multi student classes wouldn't be a problem.
I would like to leave this course with general skills in reading/writi ng, but would especially like to excel in conversation.

I am interested in learning Mandarin Chinese. I taught English in China, but did not learn Mandarin. I would like to someday go back to China and teach but with a working knowledge of Chinese language, history and culture. I need a hands on and conversationa l approach but would also be interested in learning how to read the language as well.

i would like to learn how to speak mandarin because i feel that it will help me with my fututre carrea as a flight attendant. i have not yet started learning so i am a beginner. i would only be able to give up 1 or 2 afternoons a week as i work and attende school. i am looking for someone who can fluently speak the language and will be able to teach me waht i need to know.
