I'd love to learn Cantonese! I'm looking to make progress as rapidly as possible. I have a background in web development, so learning new programming languages comes very easily to me. I believe that the same philosophy can be applied to learning spoken languages.
I have no previous experience with learning a foreign language. I'm looking for one or two lessons per week; perhaps an hour or so each.
The only thing my teacher needs to have is enthusiasm! Oh, and a schedule that is somewhat flexible.

I'm a 28 year old Englishman living in Tokyo. I've been learning Cantonese by myself for about one month, so I am only a beginner. But I am a serious student. Currently I am using the Sidney Lau Text books and FSI Beginners' Cantonese Course as well as a couple of other books.
I have low intermediate (bit rusty) Mandarin skills, and can read and write 1000-1500 Hanzi. Plus knowledge of a similar number of Japanese Kanji.
I am studying purely out of interest in the language. And ideally I would be looking to study 2 or 3 times a week with a teacher, plus my own study and homework in between times. My main goal in the lesson would be to practise the grammar and vocabulary I've been studying at home as much as possible, and have correction and feedback from the teacher.

I am a beginner although i've read a few informations regarding cantonese. i want to learn this language so i can work in Macau or in Hong Kong and be closer to my fiance who's working in Macau. i want to be able to learn to converse with cantonese-spe aking chinese and be able to read and write chinese characters too. i will dedicate as much of my time that is needed in order to achieve my goal.
