I currently do not speak any Croatian. My great-grandmo ther used to teach it to me when I was younger, but I have since forgotten all of it.
I'm interested in learning the language because I have family still in Croatia and I'd love to be able to communicate with them in their language.
I'm willing to dedicate a couple hours a week to lessons, and I'm looking for someone who would share cultural tidbits. The ideal teacher would be pleasant and patient.

I have started learning Croatian on my own using Pimsleur DVDs and have begun to learn several words and phrases. I would like to learn to speak Croatian fluently over the next several years. I am going in a long term relationship with a Croatian and we see marriage possibilities in our future. His culture and history is very important to him and I am embolden to learn because of my passion for him and my desire to learn. I will also be traveling to Croatia this summer and want to have a strong foundation from which to build my understanding of the language.
I need to learn grammer, vocabulary and verb usage.
I usually spend about 1/2 a day practicing with the DVDs to learn words. Right now I am finishing my last semester in school and will have the summer off before going on to do my doctorate. While not in school I can afford more time to dedicate to learning the language.
In a teacher I would like to be challenged and pushed to learn. I am a quick study and like to learn. I also want to understand the nuances of the Croatian language that are not in the text books, but words and phrases that are functional to everyday life.

intermediate? I have a croatian father (from Zagreb) but did not learn as a child. I need huge improvement in grammar and more vocabulary. I am looking for 1 hr/week. Would like native croatian speaker (from Zagreb if possible) preferably with some teaching experience but this is not mandatory.

Hello,
I am currently interested in learning Croatian for personal as well as business reasons. My mother is from Croatia while my father was from Slovenia. Growing up in the US, I naturally had a lot of exposure to the Croatian language, but as English was used in the house I never learned to properly speak or understand it, unlike most of my relatives on my mother's side of the family. I have been to Croatia several times over the years visiting my family as well as on non-family holidays.
While in London, I took Croatian lessons for a few months, but I have been moving since the beginning of the year back to Montclair, NJ. I would like to begin my study again, perhaps on a weekly basis. I work in New York City but would prefer to arrange lessons in the Montclair area if that is possible.
In terms of other languages that I have studied, I have had a good understanding in the past of German and Italian. However, it has been many years since I've studied them and I'm no longer really conversant in them. As part of my job, I received some lessons in Russian a few years ago but never had the time to dedicate to it.
