During the past two years, I have spent half my time in the
Netherla nds with my partner. He speaks excellent American
Eng lish, so we can communicate. However, as we have a committed relationship and I am very happy in Amsterdam, I
feel it is time for me to learn his language and the language of his beautiful country. I do not expect to become
fluen t, as Dutch is a difficult language for English speakers, but I want to be able to converse with his friends,
mak e my way around in the native language, and learn more
about the culture of the Netherlands through the language.
I am a complete beginner. I am looking for a tutor who is
patient, gentle, helpful in conversation and pronunciation
rather than perfect grammar, and can educate me in cultural
sla ng and chat-ability. I especially want to learn the
'Amsterd am Dutch', as that is where my partner lives.

I am interested in learning Portuguese because my boyfriend is from Brazil, and although he speaks fluent English, his family and many of his friends speak very little or no English. I will eventually go to Brazil with him and I want to be able to be able to communicate with the people in Brazil and understand what is going on around me. I am a beginner. Although my boyfriend has tried to teach me Portuguese, we always end up speaking English. I can understand a little bit and I can speak some basic phrases, but I do not know much Portuguese beyond that. I am looking for at least one hour a week, maybe more, depending on the price and schedule.
