I am learning languages for travel and academic research (I am a Professor).
I would like to devote 1-3 hours per week to learning. Right now, I wish to focus on Mandarin Chinese, spoken and written (Traditional characters).
I am a High Beginner or Intermediate speaker, and my comprehension is similar. I can read and recognise approximately 250 characters, and can write most of those.
I was formerly an ESL teacher and have some ideas about 'good' language teaching. I am looking for a teacher who is fun, intelligent, personable, competent and organised.

I am beginning a job where I will need to know additional languages.
I am a beginner, though I have taken french as a young student. Also, I have spent three months in the middle east in a predominately arabic speaking house. I know very basic words.
I would like to dedicate two nights a week to my language lessons.
I am looking for someone who is easy-going, knowledgeable about the language they are teaching even if not formally taught, and who uses a system that works regardless of that system.

HI there,
I would like to learn portugese becuase I am currently dating a brazilian and plan on going to Brazil and I would like to understand and be able to communicate.
I understand only a few basic words and would like to get a better understanding of the grammar and converstation al portugese.
I am currently looking to spend 1 hour a week to start to learn portugese
I would like my teacher to be patient and thorough and give lesson plans as well and give some homework. I would like to have some sort of text or visual learning books, and hope that I will be taught the brazilian portugese language.

I am looking to improve my French language skills in order to be hired by the Foreign Services/Fore ign Affairs of Canada. I have taken a year and a half of University French resulting in good marks. I could not continue taking French due to my double major and am hoping to use this as an opportunity to build on my established knowledge. I also am hoping that this will serve as a stepping stone to learn more languages in the future as this is a growing valuable resource. I would like to have lessons ranging from 4-8 hours a week. I am looking for a teacher that is patient and pushes me to use the language in casual conversation.
