I have joined a sailing club where most members are Francophone, and would like to learn enough French to participate in conversations with them. I have previously studied French in high school. I have made some attempts to learn the language on my own, but feel I would make better progress with the help and encouragement of an experienced language teacher. I am recently retired and am prepared to devote an hour or two each day to my studies this fall and winter. I would enjoy learning one-on-one or in a small group, and am open to teleconferenc ing and other techniques. You will find me a diligent and reliable student, eager to learn and a pleasure to teach. If possible, I would like to find a teacher within walking or cycling distance of where I live--the Riverview Park community of Alta Vista--but would travel further for the right teacher. (P.S.: I am a former writer/editor well versed in English, so if you’d like to work on your English language skills while teaching me French, I’m your man.)

I took 3 years of French in college 15 years ago. I have not used it since then. I am in Ottawa beginning an assignment and need to revive the language and become conversationa l. I am interested in a fairly intensive programme at first perhaps 3-4 lessons per week.

I am learning latin a degree requirement, under Greek and Roman Studies at Carleton University. I am having difficulty learning the required material and applying to quizzes, assigned translation and so on. I am seeking additional assisting in the language in hopes of being able to learn the language and pass the course. the Text used is Wheelock's Latin 7th Edition and I would hope that the tutor would be able to teach and assist with what is being bought in the course from this text.

I want to learn Portuguese because my boyfriend is english/portu guese and I would like to be able to communicate with him and impress him of course :), and I always wanted to learn a different language other then French/ English. I would be ranked as a beginner. I want to dedicate 1-2 night per week. I'm looking for a Teacher that will be persistent with me and someone that will show me how to speak the language fluently (everyday conversation) . I'm a fast learner and excited to get started.
