I am learning Amharic because I have visited Ethiopia and plan to do so again in the future. I am a beginner, but have taught myself (through the internet and books) how to read and write Fidel on a basic level. I need particular improvement with grammar, conversation, reading. I can dedicate 1 hour per week for language lessons. I am looking for a mature, patient and experienced teacher.

I just recently retired from the US Navy and my last duty station introduced me to the Ethiopian population. I was very impressed with the new friends I made. The culture, history, and people are very interesting to me and I want to further educate myself in the Ahmaric language for future visits to Ethiopia and/or a move to the DC area where the Ethiopian population is generalized. I fell in love with the culture such as the foods, bunna, and people. I have made lifelong friends and I want to keep those friends and learning the language will help to bridge the gap between Americans and our Ethiopian brothers and sisters.

I am a student of political science in Vienna and I'm planning to do an internship in Ethiopia after I have finished my studies. For this reason I want to learn amharic basics during my stay in Addis in February 2011.
My proficiency level is very low - I don't speak a single word amharic so far. The emphasis should be conversation and grammar. I'd like to learn the language in spoken and not in written.
