Hello sir, I am Britto arockiam. I am doing my second year Bsc.Mathemeti cs at Loyola College, Chennai. After three years I have planned to go to China through an organisation. The person who promised me to take there has suggested me that it would be of great help, if possible I learn the beginners Chinese. I don't have any knowledge about this language. Most probably I will be going to Hong kong,so I want to learn the Chinese, spoken in Hong Kong. I want to learn live in person. I want to learn it during my vacation from 15.04.05 to 15.05.05. I'm Chinese-Ameri can whose family speaks Cantonese. Most of my family, including my mother, knows how to speak both English and Cantonese. However, others, such as my father, my grandmother, and my boyfriend's family, mainly speak Cantonese. There are two major reasons why I want to learn conversationa l Chinese.
1. I want to be able to speak to family members in Cantonese, especially my father.
2. I'll be changing jobs this summer and will need to brush up on my Cantonese since there's a real need for it in my company.
I only have 6 months left in DC before I move back to Boston for the new job. I want to devote my free time during the weekdays and some weekends to learning conversationa l Cantonese. However, I'm a full-time teacher and a part-time graduate student, so I'm interested in taking classes after 3:30pm on certain days. I don't have a car, so classes will need to be Metro accessible.
