I don't really know my Japanese level. I studied for three years in school, but it's been a year since then. I lost a lot of Japanese, and so I think I'm at a high beginner's level now. I really need to work on my conversationa l skills. I would like to learn the modern speech, so that I can communicate normally when I decide to visit Japan.
I am really just learning this for fun, as I also love the Japanese culture.
Bec ause I'm young and still poor, I need an affordable teacher. I am willing to use up an hour each week to learn Japanese (I would do more if I can afford it). I would like to be taught by someone who is patient, humble, and knows a lot about the modern Japanese entertainment industry (as I love Japanese music).

My company has asked if I would like to live and work (with my family) in Japan for three months to one year. My wife and I would like to learn a little Japanese before we go. I'd like to be able to say polite phrases and read simple katakana and/or hiragana.
We need lessons at our house in Saint Paul, evenings or weekends. Our five year old could also learn a few phrases, but he isn't patient enough to sit through an hour-long lesson.

I am a recent college graduate looking to learn Arabic in order to pursue a graduate program in Arabic/Islami c studies. I have taken only the first part of an intensive language class at the University of Minnesota but I am looking for a format that can more easily fit my busy life. I am willing to dedicate 7-12 hours outside of class per week to learning Arabic. I am looking for a teacher who is not only dedicated to teaching me the mechanics of the language, but will supplement the language with cultural information as well.
