I am wanting ti learn Swahili because I'm called to be a missionary in Tanzania, Africa. I am a beginner and have looked up some sentences, however I'm not sure how to pronounce them so I'm unable to really learn. I am interested in learning all areas of the language. I would like to spend atleast 3 days a week (possibaly more), learning Swahili. I am looking for a patient, well edjucated, sweet yet firm and serious teacher. I would like the best simple lessons.

I recently started attending and volunteering at a Swahili speaking church here in Louisville Ky. I will be volunteering with the children who do know how to speak English. However, most of their parents do not speak English, and the entire worship service is done in Swahili. Swahili is a beautiful language and I would really like to learn how to speak Swahili, with the goal of becoming fluent, so that I can understand the worship services that I am attending as well as interact with the adults of the church.
As of right now I would be considered a beginner in the language because I have no real knowledge of the language or how to speak it at all, other than a couple words. I work 12 hour days Mon-Thurs so my availability would be Friday, Saturday and Sundays. I do stay pretty busy so as of right now on a busy week I would probably have anywhere from 5-10 hours to commit to learning the language on the weekends and I could self study during the week. The qualities I would like in a teacher would be someone who is fluent in the language and who might also have some knowledge about the culture. I would work hard to pick up and learn the language but would need a teacher who is patient considering this would be my first time ever trying to speak the language.
