My skill level is low-intermedi ate (maybe high-beginner ). I've memorized a moderate number of words, but my speaking and listening is poor. I'd like to continue to learn new words while focusing on my speaking and listening skills.
I' m particularly interested in Southern dialect, though a central dialect might be okay. I really want someone who's going to drill me in pronunciation and usage, someone exacting and tough.
My preference is for someone in or around Philadelphia that I could meet with in person. However, I would conduct lessons via video chat with the right tutor (motivated, experienced, etc).
Until May (2008) I'm looking to meet once a week to work primarily on pronunciation and speaking practice based on my coursework. After school's out I'd like to work up a more intensive lesson plan and/or meet for a longer period.

My native language is english, yet my existing learning priority is necessitates acquiring a the eloquent mastery of the Vietnamese language for business purposes. I would like to learn Vietnamese to enable effective communication through the course of conducting daily business.
Because a mastery of the Vietnamese language mandates the utilization of appropriate tone, inflection, rhythm, emphasis, grammar, vocabulary and conversation, the success of my business rely on my mastery of its words. I will be using Vietnamese during the course of normal business, therefore I will be requiring a language teacher who would be able to assist me in learning and speaking the Vietnamese language in an 'eloquent manner'. My ideal teacher must be a female, tolerant, understanding , pleasant yet demanding. I am seeking a teacher on Monday and Tuesday evenings or Sunday afternoons for a total of (4) hours a week. I will compensate you at a rate that is competitive with what you are worth.

I would like to learn Vietnamese because my girlfriend of 3 years is Vietnamese. Although she was born in America, her parents came from Vietnam and still speak it around family members. At this point, I am at the beginning stages since all I really know is food items in Vietnamese. I am not really concerned with writing as I am with conversation. I am looking for a teacher who is a fluent Vietnamese speaker (preferably with a Southern Dialect) in the Columbus, OH area. I am willing to travel up to 30min outside Columbus if necessary.
Although I've had a lot of exposure to the culture & language, my language skills are very much beginner level. I could meet as often as twice a week, or as little as once every other week (depending on the teacher's availability) .
