Hello, my name is Makatu and I am a student studying at a Cambridge school in South Africa. As I plan on applying to universities in South Korea, I would like to learn Korean in order to complete TOPIK examinations.
My current proficiency level is beginner, I can recognise Hangul and Korean words and pronounce them correctly. I also know basic phrases.
I would like to improve my conversationa l and technical skills, as well as learn a bit about the culture and history.
I can do 4 hours a week excluding weekends.

At the beginning of next year I am going to be returning to school for Linguistics. One of the languages that I plan on learning is Korean. Since this isnt a language offered everywhere I would like to get a head start while I complete my prerequisites . As far as my experience level,I guess I could be considered a midlevel beginner. I am self taught and havent been formally tested. I do work full time but I am confident I could put aside 4 hours a week for study. I am looking for a teacher that is patient but also amicable. I learn best when I am comfortable and have a good rapport with my instructor.

I am learning Korean to help in my future career and also as a part of my CAS project for the IB Diploma. I can read and write hangul. I need help in expanding my vocabulary, rules of grammar and conversation. I would like to spend 90 minutes per session, hopefully for 2 years where I can reach a level of proficiency. I am looking for a teacher who can explain the language to me, in the perspective of someone who is not a native speaker.
