I was born in Uzbekistan in 1994 when it was still part of Russia. I moved to the United States when I was four and have been living there for now ten years. I want to learn another language because it will help me in the future, and well pretty much because it's fun and I just want to learn. I am on a beginner level of Greek Proficiency, however I have been to the country 3 times in the last 6 years and have picked up on many words or phrases. My husband is Greek, but born and raised in America. His parents are native to Greece in Patras on the mainland and retired in the states and moved back to Greece 6 years ago. I have been a very young and naive person when it has come down to knowledge of Greek culture purely because of my immaturity and lack of time to study. My job has been very demanding and I have decided to focus my time on learning the language to the best of my ability so I can communicate with his relatives when we arrive in August 2009. This is very important to me because I enjoy his family so much and want to show them how much it means to me to speak with them. Please contact me with any information and/or ways you may feel you could assist me in my education. I am able to dedicate one night a week to studying with a tutor, but am able to converse with my husband on a daily basis. I expect him to help me practice and progress. I need someone who will be able to help me as a visual learner as well as work on proper etiquette and expression.
