I am a graduate student in international relations. I have taken two years of Chinese (Mandarin) at the undergraduate level but I have not been in formal language training for over 2 1/2 years. My skills, I'm afraid, are at the beginner level again. I want to take lessons in person and/or online in both Chinese and Arabic. I need focused lessons and structure. I want to find a teacher (s) who would be able to work with me over the next 6 months to one year and would help me become proficient in the language. I am a good student and will work diligently to achieve this. I would like to have a set time or times each week to meet with my instructor. I am looking for an instructor who will work with me and guide me so that I can speak, read and write the language. My reasons for learning another language are:language proficiency test for graduate school, career advancement, possible internship and/or teaching English in area of language, as well as a deep and profound love of learning about another culture. Hello--
I am a total beginer. I am looking to learn a Foreign Language, because I am also preparing to go to school for International Relations/ International Business Management. I figured If I am going to work with International Business, then Mandarin would be the best language to start with. I could dedicate a couple hours a night, a couple of nights per week. As I work full time and am preparing for school as I have mentioned. A Foreign Language is most important to my current goals, I look forward to working with a patient teacher, as I seem to be at a loss with language. Even my own at times.

I have no experience in Mandarin, but I'm very interested in learning which is why I'm looking in this site.
I'm from Mexico and I'm studying my M.S in Food Safety and Technology. My interest in Mandarin is basically because I believe that the Food Industry is continuosly trying to make a break in different markets and Chine is definetly one of the most promising ones. When I go into the market I believe that knowing the language gives me an advantage when looking fot the right job. Besides I've always enjoyed learning new languages. I'm an engineer and I'm fluent in Spanish, English and intermediate level in French.

Hello! I studied Mandarin daily at a university in the United States for 3 years, followed by one semester at a university in China. That was in the early 1980s. I have all my old textbooks and began to go through them again last month, in order to prepare for a business trip that I took to China last week. I would like to continue to review both conversationa l and written skills, as I plan to return to China for future business next year or the year after. I am very busy, as I travel regularly on business throughout the U.S., but I'd like to meet with a tutor (or small class) here in Las Vegas at least once per week. Sincerely, Deborah
