Dear Ms. Tran,
I am interested in learning conversationa l Vietnamese. My family is Vietnamese and I have a basic understanding of the language but was encouraged as a child to speak English instead. I've never gone to Vietnamese grammar school and would eventually like to learn how to read and write in Vietnamese. My main goal however is to speak the language and broaden my vocabulary. I live in Union Square and would like to take classes once a week or bimonthly depending on your rates. I'm looking for a teacher with a northern accent.

I am an absolute beginner in Vietnamese and a native English speaker. I plan to visit family and friends in Vietnam in 2006 and would like to learn the language. I am particularly interested in the southern dialect of Saigon, not the northern. I think 2-3 hours a week would be ideal, either at one time or two classes per week, for one year. I would be attending with a friend, so there would be 2 people in the class.

I have a working knowledge of spoken Vietnamese. I would like to learn how to read and write in Vietnamese. I was born in Vietnam but came to the U.S. when I was less than a year old. I would be willing to work with your schedule, in terms of the length of the language lessons.
