Hello,
I wish to learn Arabic for a personal challenge and for the possibility of career advancement. I have yet to attempt to understand the language so I would fall in the beginner category. For the time being, I can only dedicate about an hour a week. However, when summer arrives, my schedule will free up.

Hello all.
I am currently looking for someone to help me in learning Mandarin Chinese. I a little background in the the language but I would like to improve.
I am interested in learning all aspects of the language. Speaking, both formally and informally, as well as reading and writing (simplified characters to start).
I practice writing characters on my own time and have invested in some books but the study material in Ottawa is limited and what is available is not very good.
I am looking to meet someone who is willing to meet a couple times a week to talk in Mandarin with me. New sentences and words.
A structured lesson is not really necessary, just simple conversation tips and such to begin.

I am learning languages for travel and academic research (I am a Professor).
I would like to devote 1-3 hours per week to learning. Right now, I wish to focus on Mandarin Chinese, spoken and written (Traditional characters).
I am a High Beginner or Intermediate speaker, and my comprehension is similar. I can read and recognise approximately 250 characters, and can write most of those.
I was formerly an ESL teacher and have some ideas about 'good' language teaching. I am looking for a teacher who is fun, intelligent, personable, competent and organised.
