I am involved in the apparel retailing business. I would like to learn to speak Spanish pretty well to better communicate with my vendors. I would like to learn to at least understand and speak a little Cantonese or Mandarin to better communicate with my vendors. I think that all 3 languages would benefit me in my career. I took French in high school & college and picked it up pretty easily and I think that a transition to Spanish would not be terribly difficult. I DO think that learning either Cantonese or Mandarin will be VERY DIFFICULT but I am not looking for fluency just conversationa l.

3 year old and 6 year old children who have been around the Cantonese dialect of the Chinese language all of their lives. They understand more than they can speak. It is our wish that they continue to be immersed in the language so that they can be fluent in it when they are adults.
Th ey both learn very quickly. Both have also learned other languages (the 6 year old learned American sign and the 3 year old is fluent in Spanish). English is the native language spoken both at home and school.

Beginner level Cantonese and I recently started Mandarin as well. We are a family of 4 including 2 young kids(4 and 1 yrs old). We are doing this to help keep our family closer to our daughters' native culture and for the enjoyment. I'm interested in focuses on conversation as well as the written language. We can available some evenings and some weekends.
