I am a beginner, though I have years of experience learning Arabic, so the alphabet and a lot of vocabulary are familiar. Also nothing could be harder than Arabic!
I would like to learn Farsi because I lived in the Middle East for a long time and I love Iran so much. I want to be able to read the literature and someday visit Iran again.
For the summer, I'd like to practice at least an hour a day. I am good at learning on my own, but I need a teacher who can guide my pronunciation , engage me in basic conversation in Farsi, and correct my grammar mistakes.

I am intersted in learning a variety of languages, and am working on a book series for occupational, physical and speech therapists to give them the beginning of functional communication in various languages to improve their ability to provide treatment to a diverse client population. Hi! I have dual citizenship american and iranian. I have not been to Iran for 10 years and have not spoken since. My speaking is next to nothing and my comprehension is slightly above that. I taught myself reading/writi ng but am only around a second grade level due to my limited vocabulary. This september may be one of the last opportunities I have to see my family because my father is sick. I would like to go and be able to communicate. I would enroll in beginning classes since that is my current level, but I will obviously progress faster than many beginners and do not have the time to move slowly. I was recently laid off for visiting my father so have time but limited finances (I am working on improving the finances). I don't mind group classes, I just want to make good use of all time. If there is a topic I am comfortable with, I would like to always be studying something new while other students are working on my known topic. Thank you very much!

My proficiency level in Farsi is beginner. I've been exposed to the language for approximately a year during a recent deployment to Afghanistan. I would like to learn the language in order to advance my career and need improvement in all aspects of the language (i.e. grammar, word recognition/t ranslation, and conversation both formal and informal). Ideally, I would like to dedicate approximately an hour per day 2-3 days a week to the study of the language. I would prefer a language professional who understands or is familiar with the military and the particular needs of soldiers in the language country. S/he needs to have a firm understanding of the English language and translation to Persian. Dialects are important and s/he should understand the differences in Dari and Farsi.
