I am learning French to enhance my career. I currently work for Essilor of America, which is a French owned company based in Paris France.
I would give myself a proficiency level of beginner. I have studied Rosetta Stone through level 2 and I am currently on level 2 of Pimsleur. Rosetta Stone seems to be good for learning vocabulary, while Pimsleur is better for conversationa l, but I think an instructor would help guide me to improve faster. I feel that I can comfortably spend 2 hours a day studying French. I also have a 2 hour commute per day that allows me to listen to French on an IPOD.

I am interested in learning languages because I plan on traveling and living abroad after I finish school. I have studied Arabic in college for a semester and traveled to Egypt, Israel, and Jordan. I lived in Tanzania for three months and can speak on an intermediate level. My Arabic is probably high beginner, I can read and write, but definitely need improvement speaking and listening.
I am also interested in learning French and Spanish, because they are very useful languages. Particularly French because I am planning to travel and work in Africa. I am on the beginner level for both of these languages.
I do not have a need to be extremely fluent in any of these languages, just want to be very competent. However I am very motivated to learn and will always be prepared and eager for new information. During class time I would like to have teachers who conduct the lessons not in english, and a lot of conversation in the language being learned as this is how I learn best.

I am learning languages for my desire and goal to travel the world. I am a beginner in all three languages but have been studying Korean and Japanese from a book. Though I need improvement in all areas, conversation and reading/writi ng would be the first. I would like to dedicate as much time as I can to my language learning. The intent of this ad is to have a qualified French teacher spend 2-3 hours/weekday with my daughter while we are spending 5 weeks in Provence, this summer. The lessons should concentrate on grammar,vocab ulary/writing and reading comprehension . My daughter is currently a freshmen in college and has already taken several college level French courses. Most important is to refine her grammar and writing skills. A college professor would be ideal.
