I have been interested in Japanese culture and history for many years and am looking forward to learning how to speak Japanese fluently. I have had almost no language experience, only some basic information I taught myself from books, which never really helped because I forgot what i could not practice with anyone. I am hoping to participate in the Japanese Consulat's JET program and would love to visit Japan and plan on spending much time in my future there, both for pleasure and business. I am looking for someone who will be attentive and patient, yet firm who will encourage me in my desire to learn, yet who has some flexibility with time.

I am still a beginning student in Japanese, just finishing out the 102 level at ASU. I am learning the language for the requirement to graduate at ASU, but more importantly for my own self-improvem ent.
I require improvement in my grammar comprehension , and in my kanji composition. (It is not that my penmanship is bad, but I often get confused with the order of strokes.)
I am willing to put forth any amount of effort required -- I will study independently up to 10 hours a week if I find a teacher that can push me and motivate me to do so. The amount of hours a week I can spend with the instructor is negotiable depending on the price -- but I am willing to meet up to 4 times a week if the price is manageable.
Of course, I am looking for high-quality instruction and a patient teacher who knows how to motivate and give constructive criticism. I can move as quickly as I am pushed, and will rise to the challenges that are presented to me.

I only know a few words in Japanese. I've been attempting to teach myself, but it has proven to be harder than I thought. I'm interested in learning Japanese because I am very interested in their culture. I hope one day I can visit Japan, and if I do, I would like to know the language to so I could get around. All I'm looking in a teacher is someone who can take the time to teach me. I would like to spend a few hours a week, depending on how I will be studying. (In person, on line)
