I would like to begin learning Japanese language. I am a professional linguist and am interested in languages. I don't think I'll ever be speaking Japanese but I would like to know its basic grammar rules to be able to read and maybe write in the language. I am a beginner. My wife and I are traveling to Japan in July and I would like to have minimal conversationa l proficiency so that I can speak in stores, restaurants, hotels, etc. with the native Japanese people.
I Would like to dedicate an hour or two each Saturday or Sunday, usually 3 or 4 times per month until the end of June. I am looking for a friendly patient instructor who will help me rapidly learn conversationa l Japanese.
