I am beginner. Slovak used to be my mother tongue and up until 9 years I spoke it better than German, so I understand quite a lot but my speaking is rusty. I never learned to write.
Back to the rootes; want to releran my mother tongue
I would like to focus on conversation and basic grammar and writing
Once a week or an intensive course 2-6 weeks in the contry

My mother's background is Slovak, and I was born in Austria. I have my German, but when I visit my family in Slovakia, it is frustrating, because even though my family can speak German, they sometimes forget and then they have to translate.
I want to be able to communicate with my family in Slovak not in German. Plus, not everyone in my family can speak German, so it's a little hard to communicate with everyone. I am definitely a beginner.
I commute to Toronto for work and have friends in Mississauga. I would be willing to travel to either/or. I'm thinking that the grammar part of the lesson would excel my conversationa l skills in the long run.
I have tired to learn through my mother with no success due to the fact she wasn't able to explain the WHY part of the lesson.
I have taken German lessons when I was in school even though I can speak German, to increase my skills.
As far as time, I would want to see how it goes, hard to say at this time. But I would definitely want to get the basics down if nothing else.
Qual ities in the lessons, need structure, book to follow, exercises to practice.
As far as the teacher, one that does not just hand things to you and says do it. If I had such a teacher, I might as well go on the internet.
Hope this is enough of a description. I look forward to hearing from someone in the near future.
