Good afternoon,
My name is Brigitte Scobie and I am a Tenant Community Worker with Ottawa Community Housing. Many of the tenants I work with on a daily basis do not speak English but only Arabic. This makes it very hard to communicate and get them involved in Community activities.
My goal is to learn basic Arabic so I may communicate with my tenants and help them with requests and inquiries they may have. I am hoping that a teacher will take me on as a student and that we will be able to customize the lessons to include terms that I would be using in my field.
I am looking to start in the New Year and need to present a proposal to my Employer before doing so.

I am looking to learning arabic for many reasons. My husband is arab and I want to be able to communicate to him in arabic. It is also an important asset for the career that I want in the future. I am a beginner. I can dedicate 3 hours a week to learning. I work late, until 6:30 and so would need flexible hours.
